It looks like Chipotle will be opening its first Chattanooga location on Gunbarrel Road later this year, according to a leasing brochure obtained by the Times Free Press Friday.

The brochure states the fast-casual Mexican restaurant is moving into the space where Famous Dave’s was located before it closed in April.

After 16 years in business, the barbecue restaurant permanently closed its doors at 2122 Gunbarrel Road, and it appears the space is being converted to hold two tenants instead of one, including Chipotle.

Chipotle serves up burritos, burrito bowls, tacos, salads and is well known for its chips and guacamole. Meals average about $10 per person.

There are roughly 20 Chipotle restaurants in Tennessee, according to the national chain’s website. Chattanooga would be the last of the four major cities in the state to have a Chipotle open.

The brochure, which can be viewed here, does not state how big the new Chattanooga Chipotle will be, but the available space next to it is 3,140 square feet and includes a patio.

A Chipotle spokeswoman declined to confirm the information found in the document.

“We are still tracking for an opening in the fall but nothing new to share just yet,” she said.

A phone call to The Shopping Center Group, the company that manages and leases the space, was not returned Friday.
