Whitwell and Sale Creek have now played three times this high school softball season. And if you total the runs each has scored against the other, Sale Creek holds a six-run edge.
But that’s not what they go by.
For the second time this season, Whitwell edged the Lady Panthers by a run. Saturday’s win at Lookout Valley was big because the Lady Tigers’ 3-2 victory vaults them into the winners-bracket final of the District 6-A tournament.
Whitwell (12-10) will play at 7 p.m. Monday against top-seeded Marion County (30-6-1), which defeated Lookout Valley 6-0 on Saturday.
“It’s huge,” Whitwell coach Rebecca Castle said. “This should give them some confidence.”
