Twenty-four Tennessee judges, including 11th Judicial District Circuit Judge W. Neil Thomas of Hamilton County, will preside over this weekend’s 30th annual Tennessee State High School Mock Trial Competition.
Judges from across the state will join more than 200 attorneys and volunteers who will lend their expertise to the state competition in Nashville, according to a news release.
Tennessee Supreme Court Chief Justice Janice M. Holder will preside over the championship round today.
The Tennessee mock trial program was initiated in 1980 and, shortly thereafter, the Young Lawyers Division of the Tennessee Bar Association assumed responsibility for the competition. More than 100 teams statewide take part in local competitions, the release states.
