Chattanooga starting pitcher Randy LeBlanc was masterful Tuesday night in Jackson as the Lookouts won 3-1 in Southern League baseball.
With Montgomery’s later loss to Mobile, the Lookouts (44-20) need only one win or one Biscuits loss to clinch the North Division second-half championship, giving them the title in each half. As a result they would host four of the possible five games in the divisional round of the playoffs.
LeBlanc pitched 7 1/3 innings with one unearned run, six hits allowed and two strikeouts. Gabriel Moya worked 1 2/3 innings and allowed a hit in picking up his 24th save.
Chattanooga managed just seven hits, but Jonathan Rodriguez deposited one of those over the fence for a two-run homer in the fourth. T.J. White was 3-for-4 with three doubles and an RBI, while LaMonte Wade had a pair of hits and scored twice.
* Game five of the five-game series in Jackson is tonight at 7:05 EDT. Ryan Eades (3-2, 3.97 ERA) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Lookouts, with Ryan Atkinson (2-2, 4.24) scheduled for the Generals.
* The league’s postseason all-star team includes four Lookouts: shortstop Nick Gordon, outfielder Edgar Corcino, designated hitter Rodriguez and relief pitcher Gabriel Moya.
