With “Boom Boom” in your name, you’d better bring the beat to your shows.
KP and the Boom Boom will deliver soul, funk and Latin rhythms when they wrap up this summer’s free Nightfall concert series on Friday night, Aug. 25, in Miller Plaza, 850 Market St..
Fronted by dynamic, United Kingdom singer Kate Priestley, aka KP, this Austin, Texas-based band creates an innovative take on R&B, funk, jazz and hip-hop. Their high-energy live performances have been called “infectiously danceable.”
After being heralded as a Band to Watch by Austin Fusion Magazine, Austin City Limits Festival selected KP and the Boom Boom for an official ACL Late Night Show in 2015. Shortly after that, they were chosen to support Snoop Dogg at ACL Live Moody Theater and were selected as a SXSW 2016 Official Showcasing Artist.
The band released its debut album, “The Brave,” in fall 2016. In March of this year, they played with Questlove at SXSW.
Sistren will open Friday’s Nightfall show at 7 p.m. For more information: 423-265-0771.
