Wednesday morning’s 11:15 start time between the Chattanooga Lookouts and Jackson Generals at AT&T Field was announced before the beginning of the season.

It was Tuesday night’s 14-inning marathon that provided the unexpected curveball to players on both teams.

“I got home about around 1 in the morning and got up at 8, which is early for me,” Lookouts left fielder LaMonte Wade said. “That’s definitely early. We usually don’t have to be at the field until 3:15, and I usually sleep until 10. This was a little different, but once we got out on the field, we were ready to go.”

The Lookouts were indeed the sharper club Wednesday, downing the Generals 7-2 before a crowd of 2,554 to clinch the five-game series with tonight’s 7:15 finale to spare.

Dan Gamache broke open a scoreless game in the third inning by tripling into the left-field corner, which brought home Edgar Corcino, Wade and Jonathan Rodriguez for a 3-0 lead. T.J. White made it 4-0 in the fourth when he homered off the base of the new electronic scoreboard behind AT&T’s left-field wall.
