KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – A federal indictment in the abduction of a 7-month-old boy in East Tennessee charges a man who claims to be his father with carjacking and two women with kidnapping.
A statement from acting U.S. Attorney Gregg Sullivan says an indictment returned Tuesday charges 35-year-old David Jackson of Miami, 21-year-old Melynda Laughlin of Greeneville and 21-year-old Brooke Lashae Collins Stumbo of Afton.
They were arrested July 13 in Miami after the child was forcibly removed from his mother, Anne Boyd, and her car was taken in Greeneville.
The child, Drake Kingston Boyd, was safely recovered in Miami.
Jackson contends the boy is his son but he is not identified as his father on the child’s birth certificate.
Records do not show a defense attorney for the defendants.
