Marcus Knecht scored on a passed ball in the top of the 11th, and reliever J.T. Chargois worked a 1-2-3 bottom half – striking out the final batter – to lift the Chattanooga Lookouts to a 6-5 extra-innings victory over the Biloxi Shuckers on Wednesday.
It was the third straight one-run game and second consecutive victory for the Lookouts, who held on for a 4-3 home win over Misssissippi on Monday, one day after blowing a five-run lead in a 10-11 loss to the Braves.
On Wednesday, the Shuckers struck for three runs in the first before the Lookouts answered with three runs in the third. Chattanooga went ahead by a run in the seventh and eighth only to let Biloxi tie in the bottom half of each inning.
The Lookouts were unable to produce a baserunner in the ninth or 10th, but Niko Goodrum drew a leadoff walk in the 11th and moved to second on Adam Walker’s flyout to left field. However, Goodrum was thrown out at third when Knecht grounded to shortstop for a fielder’s choice.
With Knecht on first and two outs, Stuart Turner’s line-drive single to right set him up to come home on the passed ball with Heiker Meneses at the plate.
