Three presentations have been scheduled in the Friends of Moccasin Bend National Park’s 2010 Lecture Series over the next three months.
* Monday: “Mounds, Towns and the WPA: The Late Prehistory of Harrison & Dallas Bays,” presented by Dr. Lynne P. Sullivan. A native of Cleveland, Tenn., she is curator of archaeology and adjunct professor of anthropology at the Frank H. McClung Museum at UT-Knoxville. Prominent in her research are the large collections from excavations conducted by New Deal-era archaeologists before the flooding of TVA reservoirs.
* Oct. 11: “National Park Service: Whose Story?” by Gerard Baker, National Park superintendent and deputy director for Native American relations.
* Nov. 8: “Blue, Gray and Red: Native Americans and the Civil War” by A. Wilson Greene, an author, Civil War historian and executive director of Pamplin Historical Park.
