A traffic stop Tuesday afternoon by Bradley County Drug Unit detectives resulted in the discovery of over 4,000 prescription drug pills.
Detectives observed a 2010 Ford Taurus traveling 77 mph in a 70 mph zone on I-75 and proceeded to make the stop south of the Charleston exit, according to a new release by the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office.
The occupants of the vehicle had conflicting stories about travel plans, police said, and the detectives received consent to search for illegal substances.
While looking in the rear cargo area the detectives noticed an unnatural bulge in the back of the rear seat, said the release. Upon closer inspection they found several bags of pills hidden there.
The bags were found to contain 3,600 Oxycodone and over 400 Xanax pills, which according to police have a street value of $55,000.
Deidrea Renaye Graham, 32, of Lake Park Florida, the vehicle passenger, claimed ownership of the pills and was charged with possession of schedule II and IV drugs for resale, simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to police.
Graham remains in the Bradley County jail.
