Sunday officially brought the start of spring, but it felt more like the return of winter to the Chattanooga area with reports of snowflakes hitting the area’s higher elevation areas and cool winds blowing through the heart of town.

It appears to be a brief relapse, though, as the sunny warmth that covered the region last week is expected to reappear this week to ring in the season’s first full week.

First, there will be another cold night.

Temperatures are expected to approach freezing early Tuesday morning, bringing a dilemma to those who may have taken advantage of recent mild weather to begin working on their spring and summer gardens.
