The Salvation Army will open a new Family Store in Cleveland, Tenn., on Friday, according to a news release.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony is set for 10 a.m. at 1701 South Lee Highway before the doors open. The family store accepts and resells donated goods including clothing, furniture, household items and more.
“The Salvation Army is excited to expand its Family Store operation into Bradley County,” area commander Maj. Robert Lyle said in the release.
“This will be a ‘win-win’ for the community. Shoppers can take advantage of low pricing on great merchandise and feel good knowing the proceeds are going towards helping others.”
The Salvation Army, established in 1865, serves nearly 30 million Americans each year with food, disaster relief, assistance for the disabled, elderly and ill, shelter to the homeless and opportunities for underprivileged children. The release said 82 cents of every dollar spent is used to carry out those services in 5,000 communities nationwide.
