RINGGOLD, Ga. – A North Georgia man accused of kidnapping and playing cop won’t go to prison.
Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney Deanna Brock dismissed an arrest warrant against Daniel Chapman Edge in June, though Edge said he just found out he was in the clear last week. The Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office charged Edge last year with stalking, simple assault, false imprisonment and impersonating a police officer.
Edge said his arrest was the result of a misunderstanding. He had been trying to help a friend – and the police.
“I have mixed emotions,” he said Monday. “I don’t have to go to jail. That’s great. But I don’t see this story getting shared nearly as fast [as the one about his arrest].”
Catoosa County Sheriff Gary Sisk did not return a call or an email seeking comment.
