Tea party rhetoric is embarrassing
I don’t understand all this Tea Party anti-government inflamed rhetoric.
OK, they want their religion and guns, and they don’t like a black president.
Why, for instance, does Michelle Bachman want her people in Minnesota “to go armed and dangerous,” and why does Sarah Palin tell her people that it’s “time to reload” and put elected officials in “their crosshairs.”
I mean this is the same stuff Osama bin Laden says to new recruits to hate America.
I am white, retired and middle class, and the Tea Party is embarrassing me. I grew up in school respecting our president, whether Democrat or Republican. I paid my taxes, bought my own health insurance and volunteered for Vietnam. The country I knew and cherished is somehow disappearing.

Smith will curb dangerous trends
During this time of massive unemployment, out-of-control spending and government expansion, we need Robin Smith in Washington to curb these trends and return the power to “We the People.”
Robin supports responsible health reform which offers personal choices, not government control. She will fight for smaller government starting with the elimination of White House czars. She understands any immigration reform must start with securing the border to protect us from drug trafficking and terrorism.
When elected, Robin Smith wants all members of Congress to abide by all the same rules they impose on the rest of us. She demands that bills be posted online a minimum 72 hours before a final vote. Finally, she will oppose the “Cap and Trade” legislation that would levy a $2,000 tax increase on every American family.
Please help send Robin Smith to Washington where she can be a voice against out-of-control government. I am voting for Robin Smith, a proven conservative and successful businesswoman.

Hullander record above reproach
Bill Hullander has shown honest leadership qualities as a member/chairperson of our County Commission. His public service record is above reproach, to say the least. His willingness to help any citizen with a need is widely known. We need him to serve as our county trustee.
He has built a highly successful business using his Christian principles and work ethic. He will use the same successful common sense approach to establish an efficiently run trustee office.
I have had the privilege to call him a friend for almost two decades. We work together in the Lord’s service (internationally.) You get to know a person’s heart when you have the opportunity to pray with them. He has a passion for the lost and hurting people of the world.
I encourage our citizens to cast their vote for a man of integrity and humility. He is not just “another politician” but has the desire, ability and ideas to make a difference in trying times. Elect a true man for and of the people: my friend Bill Hullander.

Huckabee backing a negative in race
Mike Huckabee has made his choice in our congressional race to be for Chuck Fleischmann. I will now work 100 percent against Mr. Fleischmann. Gov. Huckabee opposed any sanctions on employers who gave jobs to illegal aliens and said it was “race-baiting” to make it a law to prove your citizenship for voter registration.
I will not support any candidate who doesn’t clearly stand against those who don’t obey our laws and Constitution.

Proper health care will aid country
Do not Republicans realize that an injured/sick worker who has lost their job and health care insurance cannot return to a productive (life) unless that person has access to adequate health care?
If there is no health care, the person will instead need disability, welfare and food stamps, thus adding to our nation’s deficit.
Do not Republicans understand that children with sickness and disabilities who do not have access to health care will not become productive citizens, thus adding to the nation’s deficit. They will need welfare, disability and food stamps.
Do not Republicans understand that people who lose their health insurance because they are too sick or have a catastrophic injury cannot return to become productive citizens, thus adding to the nation’s welfare, disability and food stamp deficit.
The health care debate is not about the “rich getting richer,” it’s about sharing our nation’s wealth and resources with those who are not as fortunate. Health care builds and sustains healthy communities, healthy citizens who will be able to contribute to our nation’s gross national product, not to its deficit.
In the end, adequate national health care will make our country stronger both fiscally and spiritually.

Nation is proud of brave troops
I am privileged to live in the greatest nation in the world! This is due in large part to our brave troops who have served through the years! As Armed Forces Day approaches, May 15, I would like to thank all who serve and have served in our Armed Forces.
There is never enough that we can do for you, for what you are doing and have done for us! I ask of you, who read this letter, to petition the House and Senate, as I have, for better treatment of our military men and women, to give whatever it takes in material and manpower to bring this war to a quick conclusion and our brave heroes home.
Do not believe everything that you read or hear through the media about non-support for our troops. These people are in the minority!
Let’s fly the American flag proudly, write the Congress and demand they build better hospitals and staff them with the best doctors, for the care of our wounded veterans. Also post yellow ribbons in support of our troops until every one of our brave souls have returned.
Troops, we love you and are extremely proud of you!

Red bank needs some new leaders
Red Bank has had too many problems over the last few years. We need some changes. Glasscock and Millard have been on the commission way too long. The people of Red bank should vote them out at the next election. We need some new blood.
