Peace Award for Crutchfield
Global Woman Peace Foundation in Washington, D.C., presented Chattanoogan Missy Crutchfield with a Global Peace Award in Journalism and Social Media during its annual Walk to End FGM (Female Genital Mutilation) on Oct. 15.
Crutchfield is Ghandhi’s Be Magazine editor-in-chief.
The walk is an annual event to raise funds for reconstructive surgeries for survivors of female genital mutilation and to raise awareness of the global issue.
Crutchfield was recently interviewed for the Global Woman Peace Foundation and shared that, when her father, the late Ward Crutchfield, was serving as Senate majority leader in the Tennessee Legislature, she played an instrumental role in getting legislation drafted and introduced to make female genital mutilation illegal in Tennessee.
