Obama’s actions will be stopped

As the midterm election nears, I want to offer a message of hope to the people who may be disillusioned with Obama and his party.

I watched in abject horror as half the nation elected this man who was largely an unknown, never held an honest job, and clearly has nothing but contempt for the traditional American values which have guided this nation to greatness time and time again.

His transgressions against America are far too numerous to mention here. Suffice it to say he has attacked, insulted and ridiculed anyone who dares oppose his radical agenda. And why wouldn’t he? We certainly can’t look to the virtual state-run media to hold him accountable.

Members of his own party and even some Republicans seem unwilling to fight him. Fear not, for he is about to receive an education that will make his ivy league head spin.

He may be able to use fear and intimidation on his peers but not us. He seems to have overlooked the single most powerful force in the world — You and I, the American voter.

One way or another, we will not be silenced. Our will is unmatched. And we will stop him.

‘Whisper’ campaign targeting Huskey

When you pick up the newspaper, turn on the radio or TV, and look at your junk mail and read, hear or see mud-slinging, you know that it’s election time once again.

That’s how it is now in East Ridge, where another tactic is also being used, the old-fashioned “whisper” campaign, where back-stabbers tell lies or half-truths to try and sully the good name of honest people of integrity. This tells you something about the whisperers, and about those they slander.

The mud balls are now being thrown at Don Huskey, an upright, straight-talking, friendly, Christian man who has promised to clean up City Hall. Enough said.

Don Huskey has my vote for mayor of East Ridge.

Roads, billboards must be addressed

Recently I was driving in the Rossville Boulevard area near I-24 and could not help but wonder why Chattanooga hasn’t started revitalizing that area.

Accessibility may be the area’s biggest problem in that many roads that go under I-24 do not have on/off ramps so that the entire area has a feeling of isolation though it is along our city’s most important arterial roadway.

Also there is no language enforcement regarding commercial signs in the area. Many billboards and business signs are being written in Spanish, and the fact is that this language is almost completely specific to Latinos and so leaves out perhaps 95 percent of all other passersby with cultural backgrounds whose primarily written and spoken language is English.

The official language for public signs should be required to be the one which the majority of area people have understood for the past 150 years of Chattanooga’s existence and continue to understand today.

These are two challenges which our city leaders need to address now so that when the economy picks back up we can have a Southside area that we can be proud to have as the gateway into our city.

Deal best choice to lead Georgia

Georgia voters have three clear choices on election day as they pick a new governor.

First, they can select a one-term former governor who is a smooth-talking, liberal, Obama-supporting, soft-on-immigration Democrat.

Second is a virtually unknown member of a small minor party (Libertarian.)

Third is a fiscally conservative, lower taxation, small business favoring, tough on illegal immigration Republican.

Democrat Roy Barnes is a polished orator and successful attorney. He has sued the state on issues for illegal aliens, including driver’s licenses. He has donated large sums of his earnings to President Obama’s election campaigns.

The Libertarian Party would have no legislators to support John Monds if elected. A vote for him would be, in essence, a vote for Barnes.

Republican Nathan Deal has a record of support for small business. He will lower taxes and reduce spending. He has a long record of opposition to illegal immigration at the federal level. His election would signal small businesses that they could make plans for expansion and hiring. Illegal aliens would know that they should pack and leave. Having strong connections in the Legislature, Deal’s legislation would have greater chances of passing.

Lambert qualified to lead East Ridge

I have known Brent Lambert at least 20 years. Since he is running for mayor of East Ridge, I feel compelled to bring out some important facts about him.

He is a man of real integrity and cares about the welfare of all of East Ridge. He is the only candidate who has a workable plan to put us on the right track to financial responsibility. He sees how we can do this without raising taxes, and keeping our spending honest and carry on good business.

He has a master’s degree in city management and served as an East Ridge Council member and treasurer of the Hamilton County Republican Party, and in the past served as chairman.

He just finished serving as president of East Ridge Chamber of Commerce. He works at a company using his knowledge and responsibility to his job.

I have watched him live what he stands for every day. I don’t believe he will be swayed by others’ wrong opinions.

Kyriakidis offers voters true choice

The Chattanooga Tea Party voted overwhelmingly at Thursday night’s monthly meeting to support Savas Kyriakidis as the independent candidate for the 3rd Congressional District seat. This was the first time our “grass-roots” organization has endorsed a candidate in any political race.

There’s a growing amount of dissatisfaction throughout the district with the Republican choice of Mr. Chuck Fleischmann, and voter apathy is reflected in the low early voting turnout. We cannot strongly impress the importance impacting the direction of our country that these midterm elections will have across our nation. Regardless whom you support or don’t support, please vote for someone.

Our local party has reached a consensus that there comes a time to “put up or shut up,” and now is the time. The time and effort our members have contributed over the last two years should provide a fruition, and what would be more appropriate than to support the candidate who bests represents the “people” instead of the dictates of the Republicans and Democrats. As always, our decisions are made by a broad majority of members.

Savas belongs to the “people,” not the “party”! You do have a choice.

Watch all tumble if GOP prevails

OK, all you Chattanooga Republican (tea party) types who love being anti-everything that our president tries to do to bring our nation back; get out and vote for the reckless idiots that drove the country into the abyss from 2000 to 2008, with two unfunded wars, unfettered and unregulated big business.

Maybe after the election, if you prevail, we can all go up on Lookout Mountain and watch the economy, health care, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, veterans’ benefits and most of all civility as it goes careening off Lover’s Leap.
