We usually think of Chattanooga as being a safe and “family-oriented” community. But there have been too many recent acts of violence that have caused serious concerns among our good citizens.
An example was the fatal shooting of a man at the Wilcox Boulevard Kanku’s convenience store and service station.
It was the third case of gunfire at that location in recent months.
The tragic separate events caused two deaths and the wounding of another victim.
Our police officers have constant patrols throughout our city to maintain safety and order. But it is impossible to defend sufficiently against irrational and random threatening acts by irresponsible individuals.
We want all of our people to have reason to feel they will be safe and unthreatened as they go about their normal activities throughout our community. But just a few individuals, without warning, can be dangerous to us all.
