MONTEREY, Tenn. – Three men are charged with impersonating TBI agents and robbing a homeowner in Monterey.

The arrests came this week and last, but the crime occurred on Jan. 9, reports the Cookeville Herald-Citizen.

Charged with aggravated burglary, theft of property and criminal impersonation are 18-year-old David Curtis England, 19-year-old Geoffrey Grant Garrett and 27-year-old Brent Sterling Harris, all of Cookeville.

Citing a report by Monterey Police Officer Mike Phillips, the newspaper reports the three identified themselves as TBI agents, told the homeowners to “shut up and sit down,” and took a duffel bag with items valued at nearly $10,000. The warrants don’t specify what was in the duffel bag.

Federal marshals arrested at least one of the suspects.

They have a March 21 court date.
