More VW good news

Ever since it was announced that Volkswagen had chosen Chattanooga for a big automobile manufacturing plant, to produce midsize sedans, there has been continuing related good news.

The latest is that as hiring has moved toward the previously expected 2,000 employees, it has been announced that 120 people will be hired at the facility to provide the varied options that customers will want — all before the cars will be loaded onto trucks or trains for delivery.

What will the new Volkswagens be like? The Detroit auto show in January is expected to reveal the answer. But we already know that the billion-dollar Chattanooga plant will play a huge part in the Chattanooga-area economy.

Mayor Ron Littlefield appropriately has commented, “It’s just getting bigger and better.”

Success for Volkswagen in Chattanooga will surely mean success for thousands of Chattanoogans.
