The quarterback position came under scrutiny last year at the University of Georgia when Aaron Murray started as a redshirt freshman, and the tailback spot hasn’t been solidified since Knowshon Moreno bolted for the NFL after the 2008 season.
Georgia’s offensive line has had its share of detractors the past couple of years, but one spot that hasn’t come under the microscope in Athens is receiver.
Until now.
“Every year, somebody is pointing a finger at a position,” redshirt junior flanker Tavarres King said. “We’ve had Mohamed Massaquoi and we’ve had A.J. Green since I’ve been here, but now people are pointing their fingers at the receivers because guys of that caliber are gone. It’s pointed at us now, and I’ve told our receivers that I don’t want people saying ‘I told you so’ about us.
“We’ve made a pact that there will be no balls on the ground and no missed assignments and no missed blocks.”
