The sale of vintage furniture, carpet and other items in the Stone Fort Inn in downtown Chattanooga this weekend drew hundreds of people, according to the auction company.
Robert Philips of The McCallie Market said the line to get into the site nearly circled the block of the 120 E. 10th St. hotel. He said officials only let about 200 people into the 16-room hotel at one time.
The inn is slated to reopen in April as The Dwell Hotel and hold a lot of original pieces from the 1950s and 1960s, said owner Seija Ojanpera.
Philips said about 65 percent of the 700 items on sale were sold. He said another sale will take place at Browns Ferry Storage, 115 Browns Ferry Road, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 5, and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 6.
