Three men were arrested early Sunday on robbery charges in connection with the robbery and beating of a man on South Crest Road.
Justin Hulgan, 23, told police that when he was visiting friends he went outside to find his vehicle had been vandalized, Chattanooga Police Department spokeswoman Sgt. Jerri Weary said.
As he was repairing the damage done to the car three acquaintances, identified as Michael Barker, Anthony Barker and Zachary Watkins, attacked Mr. Hulgan and began punching and kicking him until he fell to the ground, Sgt. Weary said.
After beating him down, they went through his pockets and took his cell phone, his wallet containing $200 cash and some prescription medication, she said.
Police captured the three suspects and arrested them after finding them in possession of evidence from the robbery, Sgt. Weary said.
Mr. Hulgan was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries and released, she said.
