TVA seeks input on Kingston plan
The Tennessee Valley Authority wants public comment on the possible environmental impacts of adding recreation areas near the Kingston Fossil Plant.
Kingston is the site of the December 2008 coal-ash spill that dumped millions of gallons of toxic sludge on nearby land.
The proposed project would turn ruined residential land purchased by TVA after the ash spill into ball fields, walking trails, greenspace, wetlands restoration and water access.
Public comments must be received by Sept. 16. Comments may be submitted online, emailed to krbaxter@tva.gov or mailed to Kelly R. Baxter, National Environmental Policy Act specialist, Tennessee Valley Authority, 400 West Summit Hill Drive, WT 11D, Knoxville, TN 37902.
