Ledford third in rainout

DICKSON, Tenn. — Inclement weather throughout Thursday forced SunTrust Tennessee State Open officials to cancel the final round at 3 p.m. and make it a 36-hole event.

The elimination of the final round resulted in professional Grant Leaver from Centerville winning at Greystone Golf Club with a two-round score of 12-under-par 132.

The Honors Course member Tim Jackson from Germantown was the low amateur and second overall at 134, and former University of Tennessee at Chattanooga golfer Bryce Ledford from Ooltewah tied for third with amateur Aaron Ingalls of Jackson at 136.

“I didn’t even get to tee off,” said Ledford, who won the event last year. “I was really wanting to get the chance to play because I knew I could catch them — because four shots isn’t a lot to make up. I’m feeling good and real confident in my game.”

UTC senior Tripp Harris, the Honors head pro Henrik Simonsen and Cleveland Country Club assistant Josh Coley were in the group tied for 14th at 141.
