A strong November pushed the Chattanooga Convention Center’s year-to-date economic impact past $11 million, continuing a streak of good months that began in September, officials said.
According to the Carter Street Corp., which oversees the Convention Center, net event revenue in November was $367,169 compared to $156,888 in the same month a year ago. The November figure was a record for that month, officials said.
“I couldn’t believe it when I saw that,” Mike Shuford, executive director of the Carter Street Corp., told the Convention Center board during its monthly meeting.
The Convention Center hosted 60 events during November, grossing more than a half-million dollars in revenue and secured three future conventions.
Shuford said although this year has been a good one, he doesn’t expect next year to be as strong financially.
“Everything just lined up for this year,” he said. “We’ve got a lot on the books. It’s just keeping the pipeline turning.”
