Kick off your Independence Day fun with the parade through Old Towne, an annual tradition for mountain residents. No registration is required.

“Anyone who wants to participate, can,” said Patrice Wishmyer, who helps organize the family-friendly parade.

Participants will gather in front of the Alexian Inn beginning at 9 a.m. and start lining up along Ohio Avenue. The parade will begin with the sound of a fire engine horn at 10 a.m., then head down James Boulevard and turn left onto Tennessee Avenue, make a quick right onto Texas Avenue and then turn back onto James. The parade will conclude at the Signal Mountain Golf and Country Club entrance just in time for the Signal Mountain Lions Club’s annual Fourth of July barbecue at Althaus Park, located just behind the country club.

The parade will include groups, teams and organizations with decorated floats and trucks, classic cars, as well as families walking and riding bikes. Bagpipers will also be among the procession, added Wishmyer, and anyone who can play an instrument is welcome to bring it along and join in.

“I feel like a parade should be all about the music,” she said.
