HOOVER, Ala. – Alabama’s vaunted defense could not contain Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson during January’s championship game of the College Football Playoff.
Now it’s Auburn’s turn to try, as the two sets of Tigers will play Sept. 3 at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
“He’s definitely a great talent and a great playmaker,” Crimson Tide defensive end Jonathan Allen said Wednesday at SEC media days. “When you have a very athletic player at the quarterback position, that can be very deadly, and he has some surrounding players who are high-level playmakers.
“It can make for a long day for the defensive side of the ball.”
