Player of the year
James Fowlkes
The Soddy-Daisy outfielder Fowlkes will continue his career at Lee University after having a superb senior season that included a school-record 18 home runs, a .440 batting average and 28 stolen bases in 30 attempts.
“You have to credit his success to his work in the cage and in the weight room last summer and in the offseason,” Trojans coach Jared Hensley said.
Fowlkes was credited with being a leader on the field, and Hensley said he was unselfish.
“He will probably catch some in college, and he was willing to take a position change in order to make our team better,” Hensley said. “Through the first four weeks of the season his numbers were amazing. He carried us then, but he was a tremendous part of our success all year. There were a lot of games where we went as he went.”
