North Georgia Community YMCA soccer players ranging from ages 3 to 13 will soon take the fields at Heritage High School by storm as the spring season gets under way. This is the first year Heritage has opened its fields to YMCA soccer players.
“Hopefully, more kids will be involved in YMCA soccer with the move to Heritage High and the availability of more practice and game fields,” said HHS principal Ronnie Bradford.
Player signups will be held inside the school gymnasium Feb. 25 and March 3 from 10 a.m. to noon.
North Georgia YMCA Executive Director John Donahoo said the league’s players will learn about ball control, dribbling, passing, shooting, how to work as a team and the rules of the game.
“We believe in having a structured family program with a good atmosphere, because that’s what the Y is all about,” he said. “We work to encourage sportsmanship on the field. We are excited to be here at Heritage with access to their facilities.”
