A mother of three died in a fire early Wednesday on County Road 561, east of Athens, Tenn.
Sheriff Joe Guy said the victim was Michelle Lynn Guffey, 29. Her children escaped the house.
State bomb and arson investigators are leading the investigation, Guy said. It’s not clear how the fire started or how the youngsters escaped while their mother did not.
Kevin Walters, spokesman for the Tennessee Department of Insurance and Commerce, Bomb and Arson Division, said an autopsy is being performed.
