Original story:
Crews are still searching Chickamauga Lake for a missing boater on Saturday near the Sequoyah Nuclear Plant, according to a news release from the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.
Theresa Parker, a Hamilton County resident, is still missing after a boat with her and two others inside it capsized while they were canoeing near shore at around 5:30 p.m. Friday. The canoe was recovered Saturday afternoon.
Responding crews found one man on shore and boat crews found one woman along the bank, and both were suffering from cold water immersion symptoms. They were later taken to CHI Memorial Hospital in Hixson. The boaters were not wearing life jackets.
Crews are continuing to search for Parker by sonar and a remote operated vehicle, but water temperatures around 47 degrees Fahrenheit, 10-15 mph winds and a strong water current have made search and recovery efforts difficult.
Responding crews include the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, Hamilton County EMS, Highway 58 Fire Department, Hamilton County Emergency Services, Dallas Bay Fire Department and Harrison Bay State Park.
