Colbie Thomas was 4-for-5 with three runs and two RBIs and Devan Brown was 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs in game one for the Lady Tigers (18-4, 8-0). – At Charleston, S.C., the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga lost 2-1 to UMass Lowell and 5-2 to College of Charleston in the Holy City Showdown.

Lowell (4-7) won the morning game in the bottom of the seventh inning, when the River Hawks got three of their eight hits off Payten Price. Marianne Sparacia’s single scored Madison Alcorn from third to end the game.

Price (5-11) struck out seven batters and Ashley Conner was 3-for-3 with a double for the Mocs (7-16). UTC scored its run in the fifth, when Brook Womack singled with one out, went to third on Katy Richardson’s double and scored on a two-out error.

Alisha Welch was 3-for-3 and scored Lowell’s first run on Alcorn’s double in the second inning.

Against Charleston (10-9), UTC’s Hayleigh Weissenbach was 2-for-4 and scored a run and Richardson was 1-for-2 with an RBI single. Only one of the four runs off starting pitcher Alex Connell was earned. The Cougars’ Jordin Jones homered and singled in a run.

– At Florence, Ala., Lee’s Lady Flames used three unearned runs in the second inning and Leigh Beatenbough’s strong pitching to win 3-1 over North Alabama, the defending national champion and 21st-ranked team in NCAA Division II. The Gulf South Conference teams will play a doubleheader today.

With two outs and a runner on base in the second, Beatenbough singled up the middle and Zoe Miller added an infield hit to load the bases. They were unloaded on a throwing error on Kayla Louie’s grounder.

Miller, Courtney Crawford and Brooklynn Frazier each had two singles for Lee (15-7, 6-4). Beatenbough (8-4) took a shutout into the seventh but gave way to Taylor Moran with one run in and two runners on base. Moran gave up a walk but then got a game-ending groundout.

– On Lookout Mountain, Jordan Brett batted in five runs as Covenant won 10-3 and lost 8-4 in USA South play against Huntingdon. Brett’s three-run double highlighted an eight-run fifth inning in the win for the Lady Scots (10-6, 4-2), and Madalyn Ames and Erika Mast each scored two runs. Brett was 2-for-3 with a two-run homer in the loss.
