Defense attorneys for a 25-year-old man who police found with a dead body in his trunk said today their client never knew the victim was in there.
Joshua Mincy was arrested April 7 after he crashed a green four-door buick on Norcross Road and police found him running down the driveway of a nearby home.
Inside the car they found 47-year-old Tammy Hall, who appeared to have been shot multiple times. A K-9 unit also found a Bersa .380-caliber handgun in a creek near the crash scene.
Authorities haven’t connected that gun to the projectiles found in the vehicle, defense attorney Bill Speek pointed out today in Hamilton County General Sessions Court.
Speek also argued Mincy never told police that he knew Hall’s body was inside the truck.
Judge Lila Statom sent Mincy’s charges of criminal homicide, aggravated assault, unlawful carrying of a weapon, abuse of a corpse, and leaving the scene of an accident with damage to a vehicle to the grand jury.
Prosecutors agreed to dismiss the driving on a revoked license, tampering with evidence and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
In the meantime, Mincy remains in Hamilton County Jail on a $550,000 bond.
This is a developing story. Please check back later with more details.
