Dusty, Dustin Rogers visit

The son and grandson of the “King of the Cowboys” will be in Chattanooga next week for four concerts at Hullander Farm.

Roy “Dusty” Rogers Jr. and Dustin Roy Rogers will perform at 7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Doors open at 6:45 p.m., and a catered dinner will be served at 7 p.m.

Small chamber ensembles from the Ooltewah High School Band will provide dinner music.

According to band director Joel Denton, the first half of the concert will be Western music in the style of Roy Rogers’ 1934 group Sons of the Pioneers, then contemporary and seasonal selections after intermission.

Denton said the band is hoping to do “Happy Trails” with the headliners, provided the musical arrangements arrive in time for practice.

Proceeds will go to the Ooltewah band to help with scholarships and instrument purchases since the economy has both stifled fundraising efforts and raised expenses this year.

“Our expenses are significantly higher this year, two and a half times what we budgeted,” Denton said. “Most of that is caused by parents being out of work.”

Tickets are $75 each or $500 for a table for eight. Monday’s concert is sold out, and Wednesday seating is limited.
