Roger Harvey, a potter and woodworker, will show his new works as the front-wall feature at In-Town Gallery, 26A Frazier Ave., this month. “Choices,” a collection of three-dimensional pieces that reflect his finesse as a craftsman and imagination as an artist, will open with a reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5.
Over the years, Harvey has pursued interests in photography, furniture design, jewelry making and pottery. About four years ago, he built a studio and kiln for working in clay. His pottery pieces are known for clean lines, striking glaze patterns and innovative shapes.
“Choices” reflects his “breakout” decision to show both wood and clay at In-Town. Viewers will be faced with their own choices between the complex surfaces and fluid lines of his wooden pieces and the sculptural and intriguing works in clay.
“Choices” will continue through Wednesday, Dec. 31. Gallery hours are 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 1-5 p.m. Sundays (closed major holidays). For more information, call 423-267-9214 or visit www.intown gallery.com.
