Mother prefers her daughter as judge
While you have a right to consider different candidates offering their talents and abilities to serve Hamilton County as Circuit Court judge of Division IV, I am Catherine “Cate” White’s mother and have a unique perspective of this candidate.
Catherine already has experience on the bench, sitting in as special judge more than 65 times for City Court Judges Russell Bean and Sherry Paty in the past five years.
Catherine’s father, Forrest Cate Jr., lost his eyesight at 35 years of age due to diabetes when she was 11 years old. As such, Catherine didn’t go through the typical teenage years. She had to learn to be self-reliant and a disciplined student who excelled in all her classes at GPS.
Catherine helped me care for her two younger brothers. She also nurtured every stray dog and cat dropped off at our house on Mountain Creek Road.
While Catherine has a soft heart, she also has a keen sense of the law. Catherine will carry out the duties as a judge with respect for all.

High-five to UTC teacher prep plan
I am a 1977 UTC grad and still teaching. I was elated to read about the year-long teacher residency offered at UTC. I have seen many changes in the teacher prep program since Dr. Renee Murley has taken charge and initiated changes. She knows when you do what you’ve always done, you will get what you always got. I know Dr. Murley does not want student teachers leaving the world of UTC unprepared.
I equate teaching children with the world of medicine. Doctors are generally in a residency under the supervision of an attending doctor. What about our children? Our future? They need teachers with experience crafting lessons designed to flow according to the child’s level and in a sequential order so learning is like climbing a ladder (of success). This cannot be learned sitting in a college classroom; it must be taught and learned in a year-long residency, assisting a teacher of excellence, discussing the things done and why they were done in that order.
High-five to Dr. Murley! Children are like wet cement. Whatever falls on them makes an impression. I am impressed with the student teaching program.

41-year teacher Gravitt needed as register of deeds
Marc Gravitt is knowledgeable about the real estate business. As the representative for state House District 30, he has shown concern for and worked tirelessly for its residents. He is open to suggestions and is a good communicator.
These are the reasons that I am voting for Marc Gravitt for Hamilton County Register of Deeds.
