Authorities in Chattanooga are investigating three separate stabbings that occurred in the city over the weekend.
Police were notified about 3 a.m. Saturday that a 28-year-old man had shown up to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Police Department. Investigators determined the stabbing took place on 4th Avenue and identified a potential suspect, the release stated.
That same day, police also responded to McCahill Road after a report of a stabbing. When officers arrived, they found a 64-year-old man suffering from injuries that were not life-threatening. Police were told the suspect and victim had stopped at McCahill Road to get directions to a hospital before calling the police, according to investigators.
After investigators spoke with both the victim and the suspect, it was determined that the incident originally occurred in the 5000 block of Hixson Pike as result of “a verbal altercation that became physical,” authorities said. The suspect involved was arrested and charged with domestic aggravated assault, and the victim was transported to a local hospital.
The third incident happened at about 6 a.m. Sunday, when police were notified that a 28-year-old man had shown up to a local hospital suffering from injuries after being stabbed. Details of the incident are still unclear, a news release stated.
The names of the victims involved have not been released to the public.
