“It’s a new day,” Hamilton County District Attorney General Coty Wamp said Thursday of the new direction in her office. “We’re going to prioritize the most serious cases. It’s the best way to move forward on public safety.”

And move forward, she has.

Wamp, earlier this week and slightly more than a month after taking office, announced the hiring of her top staff members.

“I can’t highlight how thrilled I am to have made the progress we’ve made in five weeks,” she told this page in a phone interview. “I’m surprised at how much of a mess we had [when we took office]. It was worse than I thought. There was no direction, no camaraderie — [a negative] edge. Now, again, it feels like a team atmosphere. It has a joint mission again.”
