A 34-year-old former North Jackson High School baseball coach has been charged with having an inappropriate relationship with a student at the school after a two-week investigation by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
Michael Anthony Wallace, of Stevenson, Ala., was charged Tuesday with enticing a child to enter a vehicle or house for immoral purposes, a class C felony, and with being a school employee having sexual contact with a student under 19 years of age, a class A misdemeanor, Jackson County Sheriff Chuck Phillips said in a statement on the arrest.
Wallace is a former boys’ baseball coach at the school, according to The Daily Sentinel newspaper in Scottsboro. Wallace was relieved of his coaching and teaching duties on April 7.
The incident happened in late 2015 when the victim was 15 years old and while Wallace was working at the school, Phillips said.
A bond has not been set on all charges in the case.
