Why did you start Prosal?
We started Prosal to address a frustrating gap many business leaders experience — how disjointed and overwhelming the search for government contracts can be. Our founding team saw the challenges of navigating poor data, missed opportunities and limited resources. Prosal empowers businesses by providing proposal insights so they grow strategically.
How do you solve that problem?
Prosal helps business leaders make faster and more informed decisions by aggregating siloed data from sources such as Federal Procurement Data Systems (FPDS), industry forecasts and defense industry news, correcting inaccuracies and personalized insights. Instead of overwhelming users with generic information, we highlight relevant details — such as key decision-makers, contract histories and how past performance impacts their chances — helping businesses focus only on opportunities that are right for them and can truly accelerate their growth.
How has the company changed since its founding?
As most young businesses do, Prosal has evolved significantly since its founding. We’ve pivoted from a nonprofit marketplace to focusing on small-to-medium-sized businesses, ultimately deciding to concentrate our energies on businesses that rely on requests for proposals (RFPs) to survive. This shift was necessary for greater impact and it’s yielding big wins for us and our clients. We’ve grown as leaders along the way, refining our processes to move faster.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since establishing the company?
The importance of staying focused. It’s easy to get pulled in many directions — by investors, customers or competitors — and become a platform that tries to solve everything. Success lies in staying lean, building for your target customer, and perfecting the solution to their most pressing problem.
What’s on the horizon?
Next, we’re hitting the defense industry conference circuit, connecting with incredible companies working with or aiming to partner with the U.S. federal government. We’re excited to network, share insights and show how Prosal can enhance business development. If you’re a federal contractor, Prosal should be part of your strategy moving forward.
