Changes are coming to the Erlanger Foundation, which has operated as the flagship hospital’s nonprofit side since 1981. The foundation will merge with Erlanger Health and transition into the office of development within Erlanger.

It will still be located in the hospital’s Medical Mall and operate as a nonprofit.

Erlanger transitioned from being a government entity to private nonprofit status in July 2023.

The goal of the merger is to allow for enhanced alignment between hospital leadership and philanthropic efforts, streamline operations and bring a unified approach to meeting regional health care needs, according to a news release.

With its own governing board, the foundation chartered the hospital’s philanthropic and fundraising efforts, according to its website.
