Heritage High School stayed in house again to find its next softball coach, with former player and assistant Reagan Armour named this week as the replacement for Meagan Crawford at the Catoosa County program.
Crawford stepped down to focus on her family after four years and back-to-back GHSA state championships (Class AAAA in 2023 and AAA this past fall) as head coach and four previous years as an assistant coach. Heritage had a 101-17 record under Crawford after she took over for Tanner Moore, who led the program to three state titles.
Armour played for Moore and was an assistant under Crawford the past two years after a successful college career at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
“I am so happy for Reagan Armour and even more happy for Heritage High School,” athletic director Greg Elkins said. “I’m excited to watch Reagan continue the amazing success we’ve experienced at Heritage with our softball program, and I know we have chosen the right person for the job.”
Armour was a key member of Heritage’s first state championship team in 2018, when she batted .437 with four homers, four triples, 11 doubles and 42 RBIs as a senior to earn all-state first-team recognition. She finished her prep career with a .357 average, nine home runs and 94 RBIs.
