A man who sustained severe injuries in a crash on Ringgold Road that led to a propane leak has died from his injuries, according to a news release from the East Ridge Police Department.

Jason Bishop, a 42-year-old U-Haul employee from Knoxville, died after a Ford F150 careened across oncoming traffic, entered a U-Haul parking lot, crashed into a propane tank and struck Bishop, pinning him between the truck and a stationary U-Haul vehicle, said Josh Creel, assistant chief with East Ridge Police Department.

“This car came careening through the parking lot. I don’t know what the speed was,” Creel said by phone. “We’re still investigating, but at an apparent high rate of speed to have that much momentum striking him while he was on foot.”

The vehicle finally came to a stop against a stationary U-Haul rental truck on the lot, Creel said.
