The first case of measles in Tennessee was confirmed Friday afternoon by the state department of health.

The individual, a Middle Tennessee resident, came down with the disease in early March and is recovering at home, according to a news release by the Tennessee Department of Health.

The source of the infection is being investigated, the release said.

The case is Tennessee’s first in the ongoing national outbreak that has resulted in over 300 cases across 11 states, two of which were fatal, according to the release.
