Don’t sow chaos; create solutions
My father immigrated to the United States in 1947. He met my mother in 1937 when the choristers from the London Choir School in England performed at a church in downtown Chattanooga. They were married for 65 years and raised four children. He worked for the same company for more than 35 years.
If my father arrived in America today, it is likely he would be equally successful in 2025. Why? Because he was a white male with a support system and became a naturalized American citizen.
Unlike many immigrants today, he was not escaping economic hardship, political instability, or seeking protection from criminal gangs or war.
Immigrants contribute to the labor force, fill skill gaps, and bring diverse perspectives, cultural traditions and fresh ideas. The benefits of immigration outweigh the costs.
