CLEVELAND, Tenn. — After a lackluster first half against Red Bank, Bradley Central football coach Damon Floyd had a simple message for his offensive coaching staff: Get the ball to Brayden Carroll.

The Bears had struggled on offense in the first half of Friday’s home game, going into the locker room down 10-7 and with leading rusher Kenyon Phelps unable to go due to a lower-body injury. Add to that some struggles at quarterback after a pair of interceptions, and there needed to be a fix.

It was found in the rushing of not only Carroll — who scored two touchdowns — but Padon Parker Price as they combined for 98 second-half yards in a 21-10 win over the Lions.

TSSAA Class 6A’s Bradley, which won its fourth straight game since a narrow season-opening loss to 5A’s McMinn County, leaned heavily on its offensive line against 4A’s Lions (1-3), rushing for 262 yards in the win. While Phelps still led the team in rushing with 81 yards on 11 first-half carries, Price was right behind him with 79 yards on the ground.
