Things are not going well for the Dems. When their “No Kings” rally fell flat, it made Nancy Pelosi go back on the Crown Royal.
Democrats have no policies, no vision, no leadership and no moral compass. All they do is pursue perpetual petty grievances. They are left with performance theater now — and it is more like community theater with a bad script written by Kamala Harris.
They shut down the government over making sure insurance companies get paid. It turns out the “Affordable Care Act” isn’t so affordable.
There is only one bill in Congress that Democrats are on board with: the Sunshine Protection Act, which makes Daylight Savings Time permanent. I love the self-serving names of bills: “Affordable Care,” “Inflation Reduction” and “Sunshine Protection” Acts. Were it not for Congress, we would not be protected from sunshine.
And who knew a White House construction project could cause such a kerfuffle?
The donation of the money for the new White House ballroom has Dems all bent out of shape. Now, Rep. Eric Swalwell wants every candidate for president to pledge to tear down the White House ballroom Trump is building with donated (not taxpayer) money. We could have a free ballroom, and the petulant Democrats are vowing to tear it down.
Trump is the master troller. He should tell Swalwell to calm down; he is just fixing up the house so he can flip it after his third term.
Trump is not mad at Swalwell; he is taking the high road for once. Trump just offered him and AOC an all-expenses-paid fishing trip off the coast of Venezuela.
Flaunting the conventions of the Swamp, Trump is building this ballroom with his friends’ money and his own bravado. Given his style (Trump is sending Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine without Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s permission, he stopped seven wars, bombed Iran and Venezuelan drug boats, outfoxed 90 lawfare indictments, and dodged two assassination attempts), he entertains world leaders to get trade/diplomacy deals done.
Trump is doing this for $280 million. Via Congress, Obama and Bush spent $376 million to do some infrastructure work, construct Michelle Obama’s vegetable garden (they should have named it after Joe Biden) and Obama’s now famous basketball court. CNN gushed when demolition began on the Obama improvements. Not now. They are so mad, you’d think the FCC had required them to have a Republican guest on once a year.
Trump is building this ballroom at about half of what the government would have spent. A ballroom is not hard to build. It is just a big rectangular building where shrimp cocktails go to die. The most powerful country in the world, of late, has been hosting state dinners in a tent. What are we, snake-handling preachers in Kentucky?
Dems (and probably I) won’t like Trump’s taste. Nothing says “subtle elegance” like a gold-plated column that would make Zeus feel underdressed. But compared with the eight-years-in-the-making, way-over-budget Obama Presidential Library in Chicago, which looks like a mix between a prison and a Bond villain’s lair, it could be worse.
At least the Clinton Presidential Library is fun. It is the only presidential library with a two-drink minimum. And instead of a fat man’s squeeze like Rock City, you are allowed to crawl underneath his Oval Office desk to get a feeling of what it was like to intern for him.
So the country is rocking along, building things and feeling good again. Trump just sold rice to Japan. Most of the Biden team are on money-grabbing book tours ripping the Democratic Party. Well, at least they found some work. Biden’s Southern border ICE enforcement team and ex-Homeland Security head Alejandro Mayorkas seem to have found work at the Louvre in Paris.
