Areas of Chattanooga, based on City Council district, will be hit by a code inspection ‘blitz’ over the next few months, according to a Public Works Department press release.

Earlier this week, the Land Development Office’s entire inspection team looked at as many addresses as possible in City Council District 1, which includes Lookout Valley, Mountain Creek and northern parts of Hixson. Most other areas in the city should expect the same via two-day bursts, according to the inspection team’s schedule.

Places with code violations will have a yellow notice-of-violation tag placed on their property, with the city’s letterhead. Property owners will have two weeks to correct the violation. Then the property will be reinspected. If it’s still not up to code, the owner will have to go to court.
