The last time the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s basketball team lost a game was late November.

It’s been a whole lot longer since East Tennessee State University was able to beat UTC in a rivalry series the Mocs have dominated over the long haul.

UTC picked up its seventh consecutive victory Saturday, shaking off a hot start by ETSU to defeat the Buccaneers 53-41 at Brooks Gymnasium in Johnson City.

The Mocs improved to 11-5 overall this season and are 3-0 in the Southern Conference, with the league wins over Wofford, Furman and the Bucs by an average of 16 points. The visit to ETSU (7-11, 0-3) was the start of a three-game road swing for UTC, which faces reigning SoCon champion UNC Greensboro (12-7, 2-2) at 6 p.m. Thursday, then takes on Western Carolina two days later with a 1 p.m. tipoff in Cullowhee, North Carolina.

UTC pushed its all-time advantage against ETSU to 71-25 with its seventh straight victory against the Bucs, who haven’t beaten the Mocs since winning 65-62 in Chattanooga on Feb. 12, 2022. That remains UTC’s lone loss to ETSU this decade.
