The regular season in high school basketball is past the early stages and well into region/district play in the Greater Chattanooga area. The next few weeks will set up postseason tournaments throughout the area. As of now, here are 10 girls’ teams off to exciting starts, as chosen by the Times Free Press staff. The boys’ teams will be featured Wednesday.

Teams are listed in alphabetical order:

› Baylor (13-6, 1-1 in Division II-AA East Region): Aubrey Bush looks far ahead of her time as the standout eighth grade point guard has the Lady Red Raiders showing brilliant flashes at times on the court. Bush was crowned the MVP of Christian Heritage’s Christmas tournament in which she scored over 20 points in every game. Bush has also had a couple of 10-assist performances this season. Defenses have to turn so much attention to her that it opens up the court at times for other playmakers around her like Xahara Willis, Amiya Leach, and Schoti Marchand, who is also an eighth grader.

› Bradley Central (18-0, 5-0 in District 5-4A): Clemson signee Kimora Fields has been one of the nation’s finest players, as the 6-foot senior post is averaging 35 points per game with a 65% field goal percentage. Class 4A’s top-ranked Bearettes have won 35 consecutive games and are chasing after their fourth TSSAA state title in a row. Fields put up 52 points and 16 rebounds in a 90-64 victory over Cumberland County to win a Christmas tournament Senior Addie Geren also is a strong sidekick, as she has seven games with at least three 3-point makes this season and hit six against Ooltewah.

› Cleveland (15-3, 4-1 in District 5-4A):
